INDICATIONS

WAPMELOX® is indicated for the alleviation of inflammation and pain associated with:

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Degenerative joint disease

  • Musculoskeletal disorders

  • Soft tissue injuries

  • Lameness

  • Post-operative pain

  • Orthopedic surgery

  • Dental procedures

In cats:

  • Acute musculoskeletal pain

  • Post-operative pain

  • Soft tissue surgery


PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the oxicam class.

It preferentially inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), reducing prostaglandin synthesis responsible for inflammation, pain, and fever.

Meloxicam provides:

  • Anti-inflammatory activity

  • Analgesic activity

  • Antipyretic activity


DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Dogs

Initial dose:

0.2 mg/kg body weight

on the first day.

Maintenance dose:

0.1 mg/kg once daily


Cats

0.05 mg/kg once daily

Only according to veterinary supervision and approved local labeling.

Administer with food whenever possible.

Shake well before each use.

Use the supplied dosing syringe for accurate administration.


CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not use in:

  • Animals with gastrointestinal ulceration

  • Animals suffering from hepatic disease

  • Animals suffering from renal insufficiency

  • Animals with cardiac disorders

  • Animals with hemorrhagic disorders

  • Animals hypersensitive to meloxicam or other NSAIDs


SPECIAL WARNINGS

Do not administer concurrently with:

  • Other NSAIDs

  • Corticosteroids

Avoid dehydration before treatment.

Monitor renal function during prolonged therapy.


ADVERSE REACTIONS

Occasionally:

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhea

  • Soft feces

  • Reduced appetite

Rarely:

  • Gastrointestinal ulceration

  • Gastrointestinal bleeding

  • Kidney dysfunction

  • Liver enzyme elevation

Treatment should be discontinued if adverse effects occur.


USE DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION

Use only according to the benefit-risk assessment of the attending veterinarian.


OVERDOSE

Overdose may result in:

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhea

  • Gastric ulceration

  • Renal impairment

  • Depression

Treatment is symptomatic and supportive.


STORAGE

Store below 30°C.

Do not freeze.

Protect from direct sunlight.

Shake well before use.

36 months.

Use within 6 months after first opening.
