WAPCARP® is indicated for the reduction of inflammation and pain associated with:
Osteoarthritis
Degenerative joint disease
Hip dysplasia
Elbow dysplasia
Musculoskeletal disorders
Soft tissue injuries
Post-operative pain
Orthopedic surgery
Soft tissue surgery
Dental surgery
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Carprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the propionic acid class.
It provides:
Anti-inflammatory activity
Analgesic activity
Antipyretic activity
Carprofen preferentially inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX), reducing prostaglandin synthesis responsible for inflammation and pain.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Administer orally.
Recommended dose:
4 mg/kg body weight daily
The daily dose may be given:
Once daily
or
Divided into 2 mg/kg twice daily
For long-term treatment, the dose may be adjusted according to clinical response under veterinary supervision.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use in:
Cats
Animals with gastrointestinal ulceration
Animals suffering from hepatic disease
Animals suffering from renal insufficiency
Animals with cardiac disease
Animals with hemorrhagic disorders
Animals hypersensitive to carprofen or other NSAIDs
SPECIAL WARNINGS
Do not administer concurrently with:
Other NSAIDs
Corticosteroids
Avoid use in dehydrated, hypovolemic or hypotensive animals.
Long-term treatment should include periodic monitoring of liver and kidney function.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
Occasionally:
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Soft stools
Decreased appetite
Rarely:
Gastrointestinal ulceration
Gastrointestinal bleeding
Hepatic dysfunction
Renal dysfunction
Idiosyncratic hepatic reactions
Discontinue treatment if adverse reactions occur.
USE DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
The safety of the product has not been established during pregnancy or lactation.
Use only according to the benefit-risk assessment of the attending veterinarian.
OVERDOSE
Overdose may result in:
Vomiting
Gastrointestinal ulceration
Renal impairment
Depression
Treatment is symptomatic and supportive.
STORAGE
Store below 25°C.
Protect from moisture and direct sunlight.
Keep in the original package.
