PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Marbofloxacin is a third-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic with bactericidal activity.

It inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, resulting in rapid bacterial cell death. Marbofloxacin has excellent oral bioavailability and penetrates effectively into skin, respiratory tissues, urinary tract, and soft tissues.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Administer orally.

Recommended dose:

2 mg/kg body weight once daily

Treatment duration:

  • Skin infections: 5–14 days

  • Urinary tract infections: 10–14 days

  • Respiratory infections: 7–10 days

  • Chronic pyoderma: up to 21 days, according to the veterinarian's assessment.

Always complete the prescribed course of treatment.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

  • Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones.

  • Do not administer to growing dogs of breeds known to be susceptible to cartilage disorders unless the benefit outweighs the risk.

  • Not recommended for puppies during rapid growth phases except under veterinary supervision.

SPECIAL WARNINGS

Use antimicrobial agents responsibly to minimize the development of antimicrobial resistance.

Treatment should be guided by culture and susceptibility testing whenever possible.
