INDICATIONS
FERROVIA® is indicated for the prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anemia, particularly in rapidly growing young animals.
It is recommended for:
Prevention of neonatal iron deficiency anemia
Treatment of iron deficiency anemia
Weakness and poor growth
Pale mucous membranes
Reduced weight gain
Poor appetite
Nutritional deficiencies
Recovery after illness
Support during periods of rapid growth
Improvement of hematopoiesis
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
FERROVIA® combines Iron Dextran, a readily available source of iron, with Vitamin B12, an essential vitamin for erythropoiesis.

Promotes hemoglobin synthesis
Supports oxygen transport
Improves growth performance
Vitamin B12
Stimulates red blood cell production
Supports protein metabolism
Enhances appetite
Promotes recovery
The combination rapidly restores iron reserves and supports healthy growth.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
For intramuscular injection only.
Piglets
1–2 mL
Preferably administered within the first 1–3 days of life.
Calves
2–5 mL
Lambs & Kids
1–2 mL
Foals
2–4 mL
Puppies
0.5–1 mL
Treatment may be repeated according to veterinary recommendation if clinically indicated.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use in animals with:
Known hypersensitivity to Iron Dextran
Iron overload disorders
Severe hepatic disease
Vitamin B12 hypersensitivity
SPECIAL WARNINGS
Administer by deep intramuscular injection using aseptic technique.
Do not inject intravenously.
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Shake well before use if recommended for the final formulation.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
Occasionally:
Mild swelling at the injection site
Temporary pain
Rarely:
Allergic reactions
Anaphylactic reactions
Emergency treatment should be available whenever injectable iron preparations are administered.
USE DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
Not generally indicated for adult pregnant or lactating animals unless prescribed by a veterinarian.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Do not administer simultaneously with other injectable iron preparations.
Do not mix with other injectable products in the same syringe.
OVERDOSE
Overdosage may cause:
Iron toxicity
Depression
Diarrhea
Tissue irritation
Hepatic injury
Provide supportive therapy as required.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD
Meat: Zero days*
*Subject to national registration requirements.
STORAGE
Store below 25°C.
Protect from direct sunlight.
Do not freeze.
Keep the vial tightly closed.
SHELF LIFE
36 months before opening.
Use within 28 days after first broaching (subject to stability studies).
